Push notifications overview In development

Who this is for: teams that want to notify End Users in the browser without running notification infrastructure.

The push module sends browser push notifications using the Web Push standard: your app subscribes a user's browser, and your backend sends notifications through the module's API — delivered even when your app's tab is closed.

How it works

  1. Your frontend fetches the module's VAPID public key and asks the browser for notification permission.
  2. The browser's push subscription is registered with the module.
  3. Your backend calls the send API with a title, body, and link — the module handles delivery to every subscribed browser.

Everything runs serverless on AWS, in the same deployment model as the other SaaSLayer modules.

Current state

This module is an early build: Web Push (all modern browsers) works end to end. Additional channels — mobile push (APNs/FCM), email, SMS, and chat — are directions under consideration, not shipped functionality.

If push notifications matter for your evaluation, talk to us and tell us what channels you need.
